In institutions that raise music teachers, piano lessons during undergraduate study are highly necessary and significant in terms of teaching profession besides individual instrument classes.
Piano is a very efficient instrument for music teachers in making more qualified education as it helps them carry out ear-training, making solfege by deciphering school songs, practicing harmonic analysis trainings and teaching songs monophonically in the correct way. With its rich harmony and orchestral ability, piano is one of the most significant instruments that enable transition from monophonic instruments to polyphonic instruments.
But it is necessary to direct teacher candidates in line with the technical standards of piano education during undergraduate education. This is why, in terms of the importance of technical information in undergraduate piano education, it is necessary to know the playing techniques according to semesters and parallel ranging of piano pieces according to these techniques.
This study is important in terms of determining piano playing criteria for each semester in undergraduate piano education and distributing piano pieces used in piano education according to these criteria.
