1667328258 SEMIOTIC APPROACH TO SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS PERCEPTIONS OF THE CONCEPT OF LOVE

In this study, it is aimed to determine the views of secondary school 5 th grade students on the concept of love within the frame work of values education and to examine how it is reflected in their artistic works. The study was designed with the art-based research method, one of the qualitati vere search methods, and a semiotic analy sisapproach was a dopted. The study group of there search was selected by purposive sampling method. Accordingly, the study group was formed with 34 (16 girls / 18 boys) 5th grade students studying in a secondary school in the 2021-2022 academic year. As the first data collection tool in there search, a data collection form was used to determine students' perceptions of the concept of love. As the second data collection tool of there search, the students were asked to draw a picture on the image/meaning that the yassociated with the concept of love in their mind sand totell the stories of the pictures they drew. In the analysis of the data, the answers received to determine the perceptions of the 5th grade student sabout the concept of love through metaphor were analyzed by content analysis, the pictures drawn by the students were analyzed by semiotic analysis, and the stories of the students' pictures were analyzed by descriptive analysis. As a result of there search, it was determined that the most used metaphors related to the concept of love by the students were the concepts such as family, human love, happiness, respect and the world. On the other hand, it was observed that the students mostly used images such as hearts and human figures to Express love in their paintings.
