1732265681 Evaluation of the Effect of Plaster Mold Techniques on Three Dimensional Designs of Handcrafts Department Students

Art education has an important place in the general education of human beings. With today's developing technologies, the perception of three-dimensional object design in art education can change in line with new concepts and applications every day. Accordingly, perception and expression possibilities have also increased. When art education is considered as a creative process, the importance of material in artistic creation is a very important element. In the process of product formation; getting to know the material, learning and developing the technique, thinking through trial and error, questioning and accordingly developing creativity contribute to the development of plastic shaping experiences. The study is material-oriented and the main purpose of this approach is that plaster, which is used in many fields such as construction, health, chemical industry, agriculture, scientific research and art, exhibits an advantageous profile thanks to its easy availability, affordable cost, unlimited shaping and inorganic properties. Thus, it is aimed to investigate a sustainable design model. It was realized as a project supported by Selçuk University Scientific Research Projects. In this project, 4th grade students (7 students) of the Department of Handcrafts Design and Production of the Faculty of Art and Design, Faculty of Art and Design, 2018/2019 academic year, were carried out within the scope of the 7th Semester Contemporary Art Workshop Course. The main problem in this study is to investigate the effect of the three-dimensional perception of students studying art and design on the application of the designs they develop using plaster mold techniques. In the project, the experimental design method based on design, material and technique in the development of products and processes in art and design application education was used in accordance with qualitative research principles. Plaster was chosen as the material in the project. As a result, it is aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of producing subjective solutions to a new design problematic with a new material.
