1737045042 SEMIOTIC ANALYSIS OF ‘SNOW WHITE’ ANIMATION

Graphic design plays a crucial role in conveying meaningful messages through symbols and images. These messages interact with the audience by utilizing the power of visual language. Animation, on the other hand, allows for the dynamic movement of symbols provided by graphic design, enabling the transmission of more meaningful messages to the viewers. Animation holds an important place in visualizing the meanings of these symbols. The focus of this research is identifying symbols and visual images in animation and analyzing them using a semiotic method. In this study, three scenes from the animation "Snow White" were analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic model. Additionally, R. Plutchik’s color emotion wheel model was considered in the semiotic analysis. The colors used in the animation and the emotions they aim to convey are also explained in this article. The aim of this examination is to understand how the symbols and visual images in the selected scenes are utilized. Each scene contains various symbolic elements that contribute to the intended message of the animation. The semiotic analysis conducted has facilitated the exploration of the fundamental messages intended to be conveyed to the audience by understanding how the symbols and visual images in the animation function.
