1765341974 INSTALLATION PRACTICE IN DESIGN AND ART EDUCATION

Within the modern education system, basic design and art education should remain open to new teaching methods that integrate different cultures and disciplines. In this context, installation arta significant discipline of contemporary art can be incorporated into the scope of basic design and art education due to its strong relationship with space, its nature as environmental art, its performative elements, and its interactive use of sound, light, and audience participation. For Generation Z and beyond, who are well-versed in current technologies, this approach has the potential to provide a more effective educational model. This study examines installation projects created by students of the Interior Architecture and Environmental Design Department at Istanbul Kültür University within the scope of the Basic Design course. The projects reveal a synthesis of classical basic art education principles inherited from the Bauhaus school with innovative modes of expression, fostering skills in multidimensional thinking, diverse material use, and spatial awareness. Considering technological advancements and modern living conditions, it is essential that basic design and art education should be updated in parallel with innovations in the education system, integrating such practices into course content.
