Bu öğrencilerin %49’u kız, %51’i erkektir. 2010-2011 eğitim öğretim yılı güz yarıyılında okutulan “Grafik Üretim Teknikleri” dersi için hazırlanan ders malzemeleri, Dumlupınar Üniversitesi’nin açık ders malzemeleri sitesi bulunmadığı için araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanan internet sitesinde (www.masaustuyayincilikdersi.com) yayımlanmıştır. Araştırma sonunda yapılan başarı testi ile açık ders malzemelerinden faydalanan deney grubu öğrencileri lehine anlamlı fark bulunmuştur.

Abstract

When recent studies on the use of the Internet in higher education are examined, it can clearly be seen that “OpenCourseWare” constitutes an important research topic. “OpenCourseWare” is defined as academics making the course materials they have prepared themselves, such as lecture notes, presentations, project drafts and course contents, available to everyone over the Internet without expecting anything in return. “OpenCourseWare” was first launched in the United States at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2001. The fact that, despite its increasing applications around the world, “OpenCourseWare” has been spreading relatively more slowly in Turkey constitutes the starting point of this study. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of OpenCourseWare on students' academic achievement by comparing the academic achievement of students who do and do not use it, and to determine the views of the students who use these materials about OpenCourseWare. The study used a pretest-posttest control group experimental design, and the study group consisted of 4th-year students in the Department of Graphics of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dumlupınar University. There are 20 students in the experimental group and 19 students in the control group. Of these students, 49% are female and 51% are male. The course materials prepared for the “Graphic Production Techniques” course, taught in the fall semester of the 2010-2011 academic year, were published on a website prepared by the researcher (www.masaustuyayincilikdersi.com), since Dumlupınar University did not have an OpenCourseWare website. The achievement test conducted at the end of the study revealed a significant difference in favor of the students in the experimental group, who made use of the OpenCourseWare.
