Abstract

This study, entitled “An Analysis of the ‘Allegro’ Movement of J. Brahms’ ‘Violin-Piano Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108’ From the Standpoint of Musical Expression Slurs”, aims to identify the “musical expression slurs” of this sonata by J. Brahms and to interpret the information obtained. The sonata is of great importance in chamber music and violin education and is considered a good field of study in violin education because its melodic structure, rhythmic structure and musical writing compel violin students and teachers to think and lead them to find solutions.

The “musical expression slurs” in the work were identified through analysis and interpreted in the light of information obtained through a literature review. The analysis was carried out on the Peters Edition. The fast movement of the work, the “Allegro” (first movement), was examined.

It is believed that the information obtained in the study may be a useful and detailed source offering a perspective to violin students on the musical characteristics of the Romantic period, on J. Brahms' musical understanding and characteristics, and on how the work should be approached and performed and which information should be focused on and prioritised while playing it; to violin teachers on which steps to follow and which steps to teach; and to all researchers working on the “Violin-Piano Sonata No. 3 in D Minor, Op. 108”.

“J. Brahms ‘Op. 108 No:3 Re Minör Keman-Piyano Sonatı Allegro Bölümü’nün Müzikal İfade Bağları Yönünden İncelenmesi” adlı bu araştırma, J. Brahms’ın, oda müziğinde ve keman eğitiminde önemi büyük olan, melodik yapısı, ritmik yapısı, müzik yazısı ile keman öğrencisini ve eğitimcisini düşünmeye zorlaması ve çözüm üretme yoluna sevk etmesi yönüyle, keman eğitiminde iyi bir çalışma alanı olduğu düşünülen sonatın, “Müzikal İfade Bağları”nın saptanmasıyla, ulaşılan bilgilerin yorumlanmasını amaçlamaktadır.

Eserde elde edilen “Müzikal İfade Bağları” analiz yöntemi ile tespit edilmiş, literatür tarama ile elde edilen bilgiler doğrultusunda yorumlanmıştır. Analiz, “Peters Edisyon” üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Eserde, hızlı bölüm olan “Allegro” (birinci bölüm) incelenmiştir.

Araştırmada elde edilen bilgilerin, Romantik Dönem müzik özellikleri, J. Brahms’ın müzikal anlayışı ve özellikleri, eseri çalarken nasıl düşünülmesi, nasıl seslendirilmesi, hangi bilgilere yoğunlaşılması ve öncelik verilmesi gerektiği hakkında keman öğrencilerine, hangi adımları izleyeceği ve hangi adımları öğreteceği hakkında keman eğitimcilerine, “Op. 108 No:3 Re Minör Keman-Piyano Sonatı” ile ilgili çalışma yapan tüm araştırmacılara bakış açısı sağlayacak, faydalı ve ayrıntılı bir kaynak olabileceği düşünülmektedir.
